Rosko Specman may have come off the bench in the Blitzboks' opening two Cape Town Sevens clashes. However, he is confident that he will have a big part to play in their remaining fixtures, as he did last year.
South Africa comfortably beat Russia 41-0 before coming from behind to down the USA 28-10. Specman was altogether impressed by the performances of the starting players. However, he claimed that his legs would come in handy further down the line.
"I think it will be the same [as 2015]. Sometimes, the guys will get tired. That is when I know [I can come in handy], he said."
Specman said that the Blitzboks could still improve basic aspects of their game, such as winning 50/50 balls. However, he revealed that even when the USA took an early lead against them, the mood in the camp remained calm.
The Blitzboks are looking to defend their Cape Town Sevens title after Specman played a major role in last year's heroics. Furthermore, they are defending their position at the top of the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series, which they earned by winning last weekend's season opener in Dubai.
They face Australia at 19h56 on Saturday in the final pool game before the knockout fixtures begin tomorrow.
