The Makana LFA Premier League is slowly getting tougher as teams gain momentum.
The teams that have been promoted from the first division are also raising their hands and are no push-overs. For the third weekend in a row, teams enjoyed huge support from the big crowd that turned out on both days.
Sophia Stars enjoyed a very good run as they walked away with six points after demolishing Rhodes and shocked City Pirates by 4-0 and 3-2, respectively. Makana Tigers had mixed fortunes as they beat Pioneers by six unanswered goals before succumbing to one of Makhanda’s oldest clubs, Joza Callies, by three goals to two.
In the top of the table clash in Stream A, Love and Peace and City Pirates played out to an entertaining goalless draw.
Newseekers beat 6SAI Army 4-2 while Lalibela Lions played to a two-all draw. It was a weekend of draws for Grahamstown United as they drew both games against Cameroon and 6SAI Army.
Rhodes redeemed themselves by defeating Pioneers 5-2. Seven Fountains-based teams Pumba Pirates and Lalibela Lions, played to a 1-1 draw while Attackers thumped Newseekers by five goals.
In the main game of the weekend, Love and Peace came from a goal down to salvage a point against Young Eagles in an entertaining encounter that got the crowd on the edge of their seats.
