Investigations into mismanagement allegations against Makana Municipal Manager Ntombi Baart are continuing, Mayor Zamuxolo Peter told Grocott's Mail on Wednesday.

Baart was placed on precautionary suspension two weeks ago, pending an investigation into allegations related to her annual report and the way she conducts herself in council meetings.

During a brief interview in his office this week, Peter said lawyers of both parties were still dealing with the matter. In a media briefing at the time, Peter said the action against the MM was done in terms of clause 7 (3) of the Local Government Disciplinary Regulations for Senior Managers.

The mayor said the law would now take its course. "Our lawyers, Smith Tabata Attorneys, are in the process of looking into these allegations and we have given them all the documentation. At the moment [Baart] is sitting at home also corresponding with her lawyers," said Peter.

He said the public would be told if there were new developments in the allegations against Baart. In a telephone interview on Wednesday, Baart told Grocott's Mail there was nothing new she could say.
