Teams Grahamstown Great were winners of this year's Grahamstown Veterans Tennis Tournament at the DSG tennis courts last weekend.

Organiser Sheryl Emslie said Saturday had great weather conditions, “But the wind on Sunday was really terrible.”

The tournament was sponsored by GBS Mutual Bank and Pam Golding.

The winning team was made up of Jayne Turner, Pat Hornby, Pri Bladen, Mike Bladen, Sheryl Emslie, Pete Ellis (captain), Irene Ellis and Mango Nkwinti.

Taking second spot were the Graaff–Reinet Grafters (Erika Oosthuizen, Jeff Myburgh, Margot Hayward, Louis van der Merwe, Yvonne Bruhwiler, Arthur Short, Mary Rose Hobson (captain) and Terry Radue.

In third was East London, followed by Central Albany in fourth, Kenton fifth, Port Elizabeth sixth, St Francis seventh and Bedford eighth.

The Graeme College senior rugby sides played against Cambridge High School in Grahamstown on Saturday. The first team lost 17-20.
