A man who broke into a flat in Extension 6 last June, raped a woman and took her cellphone, was been sentenced to 15 years imprisonment by the Grahamstown Regional Court this week. Bonginkosi Ngcingci, 23, from Extension 7, had been found guilty of housebreaking with intent to rape, rape, and robbery with aggravating circumstances.

A man who broke into a flat in Extension 6 last June, raped a woman and took her cellphone, was been sentenced to 15 years imprisonment by the Grahamstown Regional Court this week. Bonginkosi Ngcingci, 23, from Extension 7, had been found guilty of housebreaking with intent to rape, rape, and robbery with aggravating circumstances. Of the June 25 incident, the woman had testified that she woken by a knock on the door of her flat around 4am. When she refused to open the door, Ngcingci forced his way in, demanded money, took her cellphone and raped her. A friend, whom she'd managed to call before he broke in arrived with her boyfriend and caught Ngcingci in the act. Last week, magistrate Thembela Mata rubbished Ngcingci's claim that the woman had earlier called him and told him she missed him.
