Good seventh and eighth wicket partnerships steadied the ship for Woodridge as Kingswood missed a number of chances to break both partnerships early on. Lihleli Xoli came back and knocked over the last three wickets in a burst of quality bowling, finishing with 3 for 14, with Woodridge then finishing on a defendable 157 all out. Ani Mteto, Dylan Kruger and Jonathan Braans each took two wickets.
Kingswood got off to a shaky start, losing an early wicket. The Woodridge seamers applied good pressure though. Jason Davidson was the key batsman for Kingswood, and it was again the fielding side who missed crucial chances that allowed him to score a match winning 74. Despite the early chances, it was a superb knock which took the game away from Woodridge. Kingswood lost a few soft wickets, but crossed the target to win by three wickets.
It was a good weekend for Kingswood, as they won four of the five matches, while the U15A Colts side drew.
In their match, Graeme outplayed Union High in Graaff-Reinet on Saturday, beating them comfortably by six wickets. Batting first, Union succumbed to accurate seam bowling by Abner Accom (4/13) and Abongile Hashe (3/19) to be bundled out for 84.
A 60-run fourth wicket partnership between Lukhanyo Tshongweni (29) and Jared Coetzee (26 not out) sealed the victory for the visitors by six wickets.
