Twelve Kingswood College pupils have been selected to play for various Eastern Province squash teams at interprovincial tournaments.
Twelve Kingswood College pupils have been selected to play for various Eastern Province squash teams at interprovincial tournaments.
Joshua Thorburn, playing number two, represented EP in its U13A boys team which placed third, winning the bronze medal. Both the U14A boys' and girls' teams excelled at the interprovincial tournament in Paarl. The EP girls' team came from nowhere in the medal standings to beat a very strong Gauteng team and win tournament gold.
Both Aimee-Leigh Pote (ranked 5th in South Africa) and Hannah Knott-Craig (ranked 8th in SA) were also selected for the SA U14 squash team. Also in the winning U14 side were Lauren Ramsay and Tayla O'Brien, both from DSG. The EP boys' U14 team finished a commendable second to a strong Boland team, winning the silver medal.
Daine Kruger (ranked 2nd in SA) was selected for the SA U14 squash team. The three selected for the U14 teams will attend a high-performance development programme to be held later in the year in Stellenbosch. Jethro Thorburn represented the EP U16A boys' team which finished 7th overall.
Thorburn played number one for the province and has been seeded 8th in South Africa. Jade Pote represented the EP U19B girls' team, which finished 1st in their section, winning gold. Pote played at number five and won all her matches.
Matthew Tait represented the EP U19A boys' team which finished third overall, winning the bronze medal. Tait played at number five and won all his matches.
