Sense seems finally to have prevailed in Makana municipality with regards to the appointment of a Strategic Advisor to the executive mayor.
The post, which according to our lead story this week had already been filled by former Scorpions employee Potose Lesoro, has now been put on hold till Makana Mayor Vumile Lwana follows proper procedures.
Sense seems finally to have prevailed in Makana municipality with regards to the appointment of a Strategic Advisor to the executive mayor.

Maybe the constant picketing by members of the South African Municipal Workers Union and opposition to the appointment by the Democratic Alliance and other members of the ANC prompted the mayor and company to rethink the appointment, or maybe it was the intervention of ANC Cacadu regional chairperson Gugile Nkwinti, who, according to our sources, was involved in discussions with the mayor and the municipal hierarchy regarding the matter.
Hopefully sanity will prevail before the municipality is brought to its knees by more in-fighting. The citizens of Makana are not concerned about who receives what salary, all they care about is service delivery.
In a city that is plagued with poverty and alcohol abuse the municipality should look again at their priorities and not compromise the bread and butter of the poor in their efforts to allocate jobs for pals.
