Three men entered Preston’s liquor store in Kenton-on-Sea on Monday morning and stole an undisclosed amount of cash, the shop’s computer and then escaped in their own vehicles as well as a delivery bakkie belonging to Preston’s, according to Captain Cowan Cannon of the Kenton Police.
The police were notified and arrived very shortly afterwards at around 9.55am. They recovered the bakkie one kilometre from the store.
At the time of going to press the police were taking statements at the scene and said the robbers had not been carrying any firearms.
According to police reports, there were only slight injuries sustained to those who had been working in the store at the time. In a previous incident in November last year a Kenton businessman was shot dead by armed robbers during a robbery outside the Kenton Standard Bank.
