Round one of the Execuline Springbok Series took part at Scribante racetrack in Port Elizabeth this weekend.
Cars and drivers from yesteryear spent the day showing off their historic gems. Vehicles travelled from as far as Cape Town and Gauteng ready to be preened and locally represented.

Cars and drivers from yesteryear spent the day showing off their historic gems. Vehicles travelled from as far as Cape Town and Gauteng ready to be preened and locally represented.
Roaring engines including Porsche 917s, SPF GT40s and MGs and dating from the 50s to the 90s were heard blasting their way around the raceway.
The PE section of the series was presented by Algoa Motorsport Club and The Sports Car Club. Categories in the event were Historic racing cars (catering for genuine single-seater and non-production sports racing cars), pre-1966 and 74 sports and GT cars, pre-1977 touring cars and pre-1966 and 1984 Saloon, Sports and GT cars.
The event ended with a 90 minute mini-endurance race for all eligible cars manufactured prior to 31 December 1973, which was a thriller with a number of of participants.
Peter Lindenberg and Ross Lazarus managed to last the entire race without a fuel stop, topping the leader board in first and second place.
The series moves to Kyalami on 5 December, Zwartkops (30 January 2010) and Killarney on 6 and 7 February 2010.
