First City Regiment will host its third annual combat rifle shoot at the Grahamstown Military Base shooting range tomorrow.
Shottists will come from all across South Africa for the event, and Andrew Stanley, warrant officer at First City, said they are expecting over 120 participants which will include soldiers, South African Police Service officers and civilians.

Shottists will come from all across South Africa for the event, and Andrew Stanley, warrant officer at First City, said they are expecting over 120 participants which will include soldiers, South African Police Service officers and civilians.
The top three placed shottists in the different categories will win First City shooting medals, sponsored by the event sponsor for the past three years, Woodoc.
The colour of the medal and ribbon will be maroon as First City is now part of the Airbore family (air assault). Stanley says participants will shoot with R4- 5.5m rifles.
The event is organised by Sergeant GT de Beer and Colonel Morris Lavin of First City. Teams taking part in tomorrow’s shoot will come from as far as Cape Town, Durban, Pretoria and the SAPS sending numerous teams.
Local businesses have also entered teams. The First City members are based across the Eastern Cape with the headquarters in Grahamstown.
The First City members will come from Aliwal North, Queenstown, Middleburg, Port Alfred, Port Elizabeth, Lanklook area and Grahamstown, among other parts of the Eastern Cape.
Some of the categories are: Champion shottist, champion women shottist, champion team, best A class shottist, best B class shottist, best veteran and best masters shottist. The prizegiving function will be held in the Combined Club at the Regimental Drill Hall.
