Most of us don’t know much about the inner workings of our cars. But what’s stopping us from asking questions when it comes to servicing and repairs? Nothing, except possibly our pride. “Your best line of defence is to ask the right questions from the get go,” says Vishal Premlall, Director of the Motor Industry Workshop Association (MIWA). “By asking the right questions and showing you have an idea of what should be done to your vehicle, you are setting the tone for a frank conversation with your mechanic and getting a good pre-service idea of the state of your…

Furthermore, research by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) indicates that nearly 20% of accidents involving minibuses have tyre failure as a contributing factor. It won’t help if you have the best brakes on the market, if your tyres are worn. Stacey Davidson, Director at Redisa (Recycling and Economic Development Initiative of South Africa), says there are…

This long-awaited implementation of the Artist Resale Right (ARR) is an investment back into the industry, acknowledging the value of authorship and ensuring support for artists. The inequality of artists only profiting from the initial sale is compounded when one considers the rise in value of an artwork over time, in relation to the growing success of the artist; the resale royalties…
