The South African National Roads Agency SOC Ltd (SANRAL) would like to notify travellers that controlled blasting is scheduled to take place on the N2, section 13, between Grahamstown and the Fish River Pass Tuesday 24 October 2017, weather permitting. The blasts will occur at various positions along the N2 between KM 81 and KM 92. The South African National Roads Agency SOC Ltd (SANRAL) will continue with controlled blasting, scheduled to take place Saturday 21 October, on the N2, Section 13 between KM 88 and KM 91, between Grahamstown and the Fish River Pass, weather permitting. The blast will take place at 12 noon, between the KM 80 and KM 81 road markers. The road will be closed. “Motorists are asked to plan their trips accordingly, and to use caution when making use of the road,” said Mbulelo Peterson, SANRAL Southern Region’s Manager. “SANRAL apologises for any inconvenience caused”.

The fourth annual Buco Junior Bass Classic took place at Settlers Dam recently. Over 30 juniors from all over the Eastern Cape arrived at the dam to try their luck. Although the dam is very low at the moment, the young anglers were still able to launch their boats. The competition, which catered for boys and girls, was divided into three categories, U9, U13 and U18. Fishing started at 8.30am and the weigh in took place at 1pm, at the main slipway at the dam. This follows after the Proteas defeated Bangladesh in the second ODI in Paarl and with it claimed a 2-0 lead in the three match series. Newly-appointed Communications Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi says ICASA (the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa) is ready to receive complaints related to the theft of mobile phone data.
