The petrol price will increase by 4 cents per litre on 1 November, says the Department of Energy. The price of Diesel (0.05% sulphur) will increase by 23 cents per litre, while Diesel (0.005% sulphur) will increase by 27 cents per litre. “South Africa’s fuel prices are adjusted on a monthly basis, informed by international and local factors. There’s a race to capture municipalities because they have a lot of money at their disposal, according to MEC for Co-operative Governance and Traditional Fikile Xasa. He said this after delivering a report on forensic investigations in the Amathole District Municipality on the Siyenza sanitation project. The report recommends disciplinary action and criminal charges against certain government and municipal officials. Findings were that among other defects, 27 toilets in one area had collapsed, and toilets had been paid for that hadn’t been built. The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS), which presented its Annual Report for the 2016/17 financial year to the Parliament Portfolio Committee on Higher Education and Training on 18 October 2017, revealed a significant increase in funding to financially eligible students in the 2016 academic year. According to a press statement issued on Tuesday, NFSAS disbursed R12.4 billion to both the public universities and Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Colleges; this represents an increase in funding of 34% from R9.2 billion in the 2015 academic year. By Staff Reporter Floris and Ingrid Moraal, formerly from Leiden in The Netherlands, are the proud new owners of the Seven Fountains Farm (formerly known as the Assegai Inn). When the couple bought the farm it had been empty for five years; had been vandalised, had its roof stolen and was a near ruins. In September 2015 the couple started making plans for restoring the buildings together with Murray Wrench. Finally in March 2016 restoration started. Health Minister, Dr Aaron Motsoaledi, has called on parents and caregivers to have every child under the age of five years vaccinated against polio. “As long as a single child remains un-vaccinated from this potentially fatal infectious disease, all other children attending school with him or her are at risk of contracting polio, hence we recommended that children under the age of five be immunised against this most common childhood diseases at the nearest health care facility,” said Minister Motsoaledi.
