The EPRU Sedru Regional League now has a new log leader with two rounds of matches remaining in the competition. Lily White (Blues) are now top of the log after their 29-12 bonus point win over long standing front runners/log leaders Old Collegians (OC) at the Oval on Saturday. Mary Waters High School (Mawas) will host their Annual Rugby Day (M-Day) at the Oval on Saturday, which will see First, U16s and U15s rugby teams in action. The Trying Stars first team recorded an impressive and dominant 50-26 bonus point win over Star of Hope in their EPRU Super League Top 12 Competition at the Wentzel Park Sports Ground in Alexandria last weekend. Trying Stars were leading 26-19 at halftime. Trying Stars scored their first try in the first minute of the match. Alexandria High School on Saturday celebrated their 50th Anniversary with a four-way rugby tournament. Mary Waters (Mawas) 1st XV rugby side were crowned the Champions over Alexandria, Booysens Park and Chatty. Mawas demolished PE side Booysens Park 65-0 in their first match of the day, scoring 11 tries. Inspirational captain and former EP Craven Week Schools star Cole Kirkwood, was the standout player scoring a hat-trick of tries. Old Collegians (OC) 1st XV rugby side continued their unbeaten record in the SEDRU Regional League. They stunned the Rhodes Stallions with a 27-22 win at Great Field, Rhodes last Friday night – the last games of the first round. OC extended their lead at the top of the log standings, the only unbeaten side in the league thus far. The Eastern Province Rugby Union (EPRU) Super League saw two exciting matches being played in Port Elizabeth on Saturday 4 May, with the Brumbies and Trying Stars taking on Missionvale and Windvogel respectively. The Brumbies First team and Missionvale Firsts played to an exciting 20-20 draw in their EPRU Super League encounter.
