The gala was for junior swimmers with local schools DSG, Kingswood College, Graeme College, St Andrew's Prep and Victoria Primary School. Age groups included U9, U10, U11, U12 and Open (U13).
According to Sheena Price, DSG swimming coach, there were a number of outstanding performances from up and coming youngsters. Some of the performances included Brendan Gouws (Graeme) in the U12 events, Cayden Barker (DSG), open, Tilabo Williamson (DSG), U12, Carina Kemp (DSG), U10, and Lushana van Heerden (Kingswood), U12.
The gala sees a shield handed to the winning school in each age group, for boys and girls. All events are over 50m, with all age groups taking part in each of the four strokes, except for the U9s who do not compete in the butterfly event. Points are given to each school depending on their placings in each event, then the points are tallied to determine the shield winner.
In the girls section, DSG/St Andrew's Prep won all four age categories. In the boys' section, St Andrew's Prep won the U10, U11 and open categories, while Graeme won the U9 and U12 categories.
