Peace of Christ Ministries and Praise hosted their first ever church awards at the BB Zondane Hall last Saturday. The awards were created to honour people who have given back to the church selflessly.
There were 40 awards handed out on the night, but the six main prizes were for hard working, offering, tithing, for being humble, for ensuring the church has a sound system and attendance. These were awarded to Mrs B Sokanyile, Miss N N Vayi, Miss S Pango, Mrs N Vayi, Mr M Pango and Mr A Pango respectively.
Pastor Khaya Mayedwa, a passionate man of the cloth and gospel singer was the guest speaker at the glamorous event.
“It was an awesome experience for me,” he said. “I've been to many other award ceremonies, for sport and so on, but this one was very special. I am humbled and still mesmerized by the warmth and love from the people of Grahamstown.”
Pastor P Pango told Grocott's Mail that the main reason for the award ceremony was to show people that everything they do for the church is recognised and to encourage them to do more. The church plans to hold the awards every three years.
