The Rhodes University Archery Club will host this year's South African National Archery Championships in April.
The contest is expected to draw archers from all over the country, as well as some internationals. Rhodes is the host, on behalf of the Eastern Cape Archery Association. The contest takes place from 3 to 6 April and the annual South African National Archery Association congress will be held at its tail-end, on 7 April.
A qualifier for a number of international events, the competition will also see the national champion crowned. It is through a vote at the association's annual congress that a province is chosen to host the national champs, based on aspects such as dedication to the sport, and facilities. Robyn Martin, secretary of the Eastern Cape Archery Association, said they were expecting around 200 archers at this year's champs.
