Saturday was the day for the ranking rounds, with archers shooting two sets of 60 arrows each. From this they were ranked according to score and on Sunday the eliminations took place.
Results from Sunday’s eliminations saw Mike Wisch of the Rhodes Archery Club coming up against Al Bentley in the fight for gold. The winner would be the first to reach six points.
Wisch led 5-1 before he lacked concentration which saw Bentley fight back to 5-5. The two then shot only one arrow each to see who would get closest to the bull’s eye, with Wisch making no mistake to take the gold.
In the various categories, Tony Van Dyk (EL) took gold in the Mens Compound Unlimited division, with Selwyn Schaffer (EL) taking silver and Gerrit Bosman (RUAC), bronze.
In the Recurve Mens division, RUAC members Tim Whelan took gold, with Lance Ho taking silver and Marc Jaquet the bronze.
In the Veteran Mens Compound division, Al Bently (EL) took the gold, followed closely by Hugh Larsen (EL) in second place and Dennis Payne (EL) taking the bronze.
The Recurve Veteran’s division saw the two competitors go head to head, with Martin Layton (LP) taking Gold and Johan Calitz (PE), the silver.
In the Mixed division, Chris Meyers (RUAC) took the Gold, followed by Linda Le Roux (LP) in second place, and the bronze going to Leanne Poole (RUAC).
