“The thieves and fraudsters in the ANC must be fired and ANC must remain,” said Churchill Ndlazi, the Provincial Treasurer of Sadtu at a meeting organised by Cosatu for teachers on Friday in the City Hall.
“The thieves and fraudsters in the ANC must be fired and ANC must remain,” said Churchill Ndlazi, the Provincial Treasurer of Sadtu at a meeting organised by Cosatu for teachers on Friday in the City Hall.
Ndlazi said that Sadtu feels that the capitalist system applied by the ANC is trying to categorise people just like the apartheid era did. “In order for the capitalist system to succeed it has to be cruel and it has to steal,” he said.
He mentioned that Cosatu needed to enforce socialism, because it cannot exist within a capitalist system. Although the meeting was solely meant for teachers, few attended. Ndlazi joked that maybe it was because it was their pay day.
The South African State and Allied Workers (Saswu) and Nehawu and the Democratic Nursing Organisation of South Africa (Denosa) attended the meeting. Ndlazi said that their job is to deliver a service, but if they don’t get paid what they deserve, they will not work.
“We are going to fight to the end. We are not on strike, the government is on strike.” He said that the 7% increase put on the table by the government is not enough, and that the strike will continue.
He added that the ANC was elected to lead like Moses led the Israelites. The government employees chanted songs of liberation and cheered when Ndlazi announced that the strike will continue indefinitely if their needs are not met.
