The Eastern Province Triathlon (EPT) Championships took place at Hobie Beach in Port Elizabeth recently, with a number of locals taking part.

The Eastern Province Triathlon (EPT) Championships took place at Hobie Beach in Port Elizabeth recently, with a number of locals taking part.
Several Grahamstown athletes taking part used the triathlon as training towards the upcoming Spec-Savers
Ironman South Africa in April, while others took part in the champs hoping to be selected for the EPT team to take part at the South Africa Triathlon Championships.
The SA champs will take place on 21 March in Germiston and the EPT has selected a large team which will be representing their province. Seven local athletes have been chosen for the EP team, after taking part in the EPT champs.
The EP champs was made up of a sprint distance for the juniors and an Olympic distance for the seniors age groupers.
The sprint was over a 750m swim, 20km cycle and a 5km run, while the Olympic covered a 1500m swim, 40km cycle and a 10km run.
Matthew Archer of St Andrew’s has been selected for the Junior sprint team. The rest of the locals making the EP team are part of the Olympic age groupers side.
The rest of the locals in the EP side are Natalie Ross, Sean Swanepoel, Katjana Hoskin, Terri-Lynn Penney, Kerry Longhurst and Neil Currie.
