Grocott’s Mail Eleven Attackers has moved up two places in the South African Football Association (Safa) Cacadu SAB Regional league.
Early last month, Attackers were in fifth spot, but have since climbed to third spot at the start of the second round.
Attackers are the defending champions after winning the 2008/2009 league and they will be hoping to win their next few matches to reshuffle the log standings once more.
The other Grahamstown team in the Cacadu league is Phoenix Pioneers, who have also moved up the log. At the beginning of November they were bottom of the log, and have since moved to seventh out of the eight teams.
Ross Ginise, secretary of the Cacadu league, was unable to say when the second round fixtures would continue. “The league coordinator will be rescheduling the games that did not take place,” he said.
Current log leaders are still Teenagers from Kenton-on-Sea with 16 points. Young Chiefs (Bushman’s River) are in second spot with 15 points and Attackers have 14 point while Pioneers have one point.
In the most recent Cacadu matches, Attackers beat Mighty Forest 2-1. The match between Young Chiefs and Pioneers did not take place due to the referee not pitching up, so the match was postponed.
