Makana Municipality welcomed its employees and representatives from a range of different government departments on Wednesday 21 November for a fun day of activities and talks centred around health and well-being. A number of health-focused events took place at the City Hall, with the highlight of the day being the health talks hosted by guest speaker Dr Vuyisa Sholo.
The events of the day were originally scheduled to kick off at the City Hall, from which the members would walk up to the 6 South African Infantry (6 SAI) Military Base, where the remainder of the activities and talks were meant to continue. However, the cold, wet and windy weather forced a change of plans. After the opening address at Town Hall, the fun walk route was changed to circle back to the hall, where the remainder of the day’s events would continue.
Dr Sholo addressed Makana staff, as well as representatives from government departments.
After Dr Sholo’s insightful presentation, the hall was cleared of chairs, allowing the aerobics class to begin. The purpose behind the fun and energetic aerobics class was to encourage all those present to look after their well-being and physical health, while also promoting a fun way to stay fit. While some participated in the aerobics, others were encouraged to consult Dr Sholo.
The rest of the afternoon would then be filled with other activities, including some board games, as well as tug-of-war and other fun and healthy activities.
