The annual Pick n Pay Albany Bowling Club Night League is at the business end, with play-offs taking place next week, leading to the finals on 10 November.
Twenty four teams divided into two sections that have been playing on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at the Albany Bowling Club, in a series of round robin games that began on 3 October.
At the end of this week’s games, the top teams will move into the play-offs where the top four teams from each section will play in the quarterfinals on Tuesday 7 November. Meanwhile, the next four from each section will play for the plate, whose quarterfinals will take place a day earlier. The winners meet on Wednesday 8 November in the semis before the big day on Friday 10 November.
Pick n Pay Night Bowls convener Kallie Calitz encouraged residents to come and support the teams as they fight for a spot in the finals, where the winners will be crowned the Pick n Pay Albany Bowling Club Night League 2017 champions.
Calitz said there will be delicious food on sale in a festive atmosphere at finals; an evening will end with prize-giving and merry making.
Team Build It are the only unbeaten team in the Tuesday section while Team No Name is also unbeaten team in the Wednesday section and it’s no surprise that they are at the top of their respective standings.
Rebels finished in second place in the Wednesday section, followed by Hewitt Bowles Construction, and Du Preez Builders. Finishing second in the Tuesday Section was Angels Forever, followed by Buco 46 B and Mardon Plumbers.
