Eleven Attackers have found the going tough in the league and were at the bottom of the log. City Pirates came up against Young Pirates, while Eleven Attackers played against Alexandria All Stars United.
In their match, City Pirates took advantage of the home game and began to attack from the start. They were awarded a free kick just outside the box, but failed to convert it. Young Pirates put in some great attacks of their own, with the City Pirates making some fine saves. City Pirates launched an attack, passing the ball to the striker, who was in the box, and quickly put City Pirates in the lead.
This was followed by their second goal, moments later. Pirates found the back of the net for the third time in the first half and a midfielder found himself one-on-one with the Young Pirates' keeper, as City Pirates led 3-0.
Young Pirates showed some urgency at the same time that Eleven Attackers seemed to take things easy. Their efforts paid off, as they were able to pull one back.
They then scored their second shortly before the half-time whistle and showed they were still in the game, with the score 3-2 to City Pirates.
Young Pirates continued the second half where they left off, going on to score their third goal and levelling matters at 3-3. They went on to score another two goals towards the end of the game and City Pirates lost 3-5.
City Pirates head coach Thobela Bhabha said, “I don’t know how we lost this one. We were looking forward to better our league position. We are now left with two games.”
Eleven Attackers were first to score against Alexandria All Stars United, but went on to lose the match 1-3. Eleven Attackers, who are bottom of the log, may have to take part in the promotion/relegation match if they do not improve their position in their final two game. The two Grahamstown sides are still to play each other in one of their final two games.
