Famous house DJ, Bongani Dlamini (aka DJ Bongz) proved the doctors wrong last weekend when he turned the tables at Fingo Village’s Makhaya Tavern.
The Durban–born Dlamini suffered from a minor stroke last month. He says “I woke up one Friday morning feeling a little different than usual.
I then realised my one side was feeling numb so I immedialtely drove myself to hospital.” Dlamini says he had been under tremendous pressure and had not been getting enough sleep due to the promotion of his latest album.
He underwent physiotherapy as the right side of his body had been partially paralysed. The attack has been a warning not only to the 33-year-old house DJ but to all music industry artists promoting their music and
not taking enough time out.
Dlamini, who refuses to give up his deejaying says he will only reduce his work load, allowing time for sufficient rest.
He says “The Grahamstown gig will be part of my album promotion as I had only recently started with the promotion”.
The recovering Dlamini gave Grahamstown fans the night of their lives at Makhaya Tavern on Saturday night. His previous releases include: No Retreat, No Surrender; Sthandwa Samm and Survival of the Fittest.
Now DJ Bongz brings you his fifth and latest album Spacebongz which came out late last December, comprising favourite singles such as Fly away, Letting go and Helele Hom featuring Ndumiso on vocals. Other featured are vocalists Noma and Maluthu.
