The Makana Local Football Association Premier League continues this weekend with the final matches of the 2009/2010 season.
It will therefore be the final battle for the local clubs to improve on their log standings. According to league official Chris Totobela, although the season was tough it proved to be a spectacle as plenty of goals were scored.

“The way teams played this season was great, one could not even predict the results as the teams kept on surprising each other on the field,” said Totobela.
This weekend’s matches will confirm who the 2009/2010 Makana Football League Champions are: Mighty Chiefs vs Santos FC A goal by Mighty Chiefs’ Dumisani Mthwalo put the side in the lead throughout the match but five minutes before the final whistle, Santos FC’s prayers were finally answered when a penalty kick by Mnoneleli Dingiswayo levelled the score, bringing the final results to a 1-1 draw.
Newtown City VS Chelsea The blue kitted Newtown City took on Chelsea in a Saturday league match in JD Dlepu Stadium, where the score ended in a tremendous 4 -1 victory to the Newtown boys.
City took advantage of the shaky Chelsea defence and netted three goals in the first half of the match. The ever-running Thanduxolo Mize opened the score board with a goal in the middle of the first half.
Ten minutes later Mzwamadoda Cutshe’s goal stretched the lead, making it 2–0 and Mize came back two minutes before half time to complete his brace and put his side in a comfortable 3–0 going to half time.
The second half saw the two teams giving it all at each other. With 21 minutes into the second half, Mzwamadoda Mabhoza stretched the goal margin putting the Newtown side 4–0 ahead. Chelsea’s Welcome Faba responded with a goal a minute later making the final score Newtown City 4 and Chelsea 1.
