Kom came third in 1 500m for UI15 boys while Bonani came fourth in the U19 girls 400m. They were both awarded medals for their efforts.

The school’s sportsmaster Mpumelelo Mthetho said his dedication as a coach paid off. “Fortunately, I had a disciplined team of children who listened to everything I said,” he added.
In preparation for the competition, the athletes ran for about 3km twice a week and used the Rhodes University’s athletic track for practice. “That’s what helped them a lot,” said Mthetho.
