Although Kingswood started well scoring a try by their number 8, Chad Matthews in the opening minutes of the game they were unable to convert their greater possession and territorial dominance into points.
Mary Waters tackled well and capitalised on Kingswood’s mistakes to push the score to 7 – 6 through two penalties before Kingswood centre, Chris Keets, scored a well worked try under the poles to take the score to 14–6 at half time.
In the second half Kingswood managed to tighten up the structure of their play and their bigger players started to wear down the Mary Waters defence and gaps started opening which the Kingswood players exploited well.
The final whistle brought a close to a very enjoyable annual fixture between the two schools with Kingswood running out 45 – 6 winners. Both sides will take part in the Graeme Rugby Day on Saturday.
