Grahamstown’s social hockey league held its final match on Friday evening on the Webster astroturf. The game between the Young Stars, a Grahamstown team, and the Fish Eagles from Port Alfred, was evenly matched and very close.
By the end of the 40 minutes playing time both teams had four goals and the game went into three minutes extra time.

As the time was almost about to finish, Mark Preston of the Young Stars scored a golden goal, taking his team to a victory of 5-4.
Shaun King, also of the Young Stars, scored a hat trick making him the unofficial man of the match. The Young Stars, a mixed male and female team, held their prizegiving at the St Andrews’ Highlander and celebrated in their pink uniforms late into the night.
