Team members who attend the Kanazawa Cup will also have the opportunity to attend seminars conducted by the legendary Japanese master, Kanazawa Kancho (10th dan black belt).
Later in the year, the Rhodes Shotokan Karate Club will host leading South African karate exponent, Shihan Koos Burger (8th dan black belt) for a training seminar.
A Rhodes Shotokan Karate club team will participate in and assist in organising one of the Eastern Cape’s remier karate events, the Secko Championships which are held annually at the Fish River Sun Hotel.
Apart from these events members will be able to enjoy numerous outdoor training sessions held in scenic locations in the Eastern Cape.
“While the style of karate taught at the club is Shotokan, karateka who have previously trained in other karate styles are also welcome to join.
Karate is enjoyed by men and women of all ages and bodytypes. “Our instructors and committee members try to support our members in their different aims in practicing karate, whether these are improving fitness, building strength and flexibility, learning self-defence, participating in competitions, or developing a strong and peaceful mind,” said Aitchison.
