Vilia’s Beauty Hacks
There is always value in divulging the best beauty secrets and unexpected ways of using self-care products to quick techniques that make skincare a breeze. After a search and binge through many YouTube tutorials, blogs and trying my favorite influencers’ skin care routines, I somehow always hit a wall. It definitely goes without saying that what works for other people doesn’t necessarily work for you and this sparked a lot of introspection and growth within me.
From the struggle of dark spots and cakey make-up in second year to the most frequently asked question; “how do you get your make up to look so natural with no foundation and have even better natural skin?!” Well, here are my hacks that could work out for some of you reading this:
- Washing the face with cold water.
Come winter or snow, cold water is game changer. I prep my face by wetting my towel in warm water, sit it onto my face to open all the pores and after my wash I rinse with cold water.
- Sticking to your best cleanser.
Having combination skin sometimes makes it hard to find a budget friendly cleanser. My best stop was a light foam wash by Garnier that makes me geek from within with every wash and doesn’t leave my face feeling tight.
- 5 Minutes of an ice-cold face roller.
Nothing beats being a little extra about your skincare and it actually working! My face roller is usually set over night to use every morning while the skin is still damp to get that blood flowing, depuffing eyes and blocking all leeway for quick wrinkling (why it’s important to always smile and not frown).
- Don’t only shave the eyebrows!
Once a month, I use a brow razer to shave all of my facial hair off while coated in magnolia oil or some baby Vaseline. This is definitely where the glow comes from as your skin becomes more clearer and allows that make up to sit like a filter sis. (Tut on Instagram!)
4. SUNSCREEN, SUNSCREEN, SUNSCREEN.
The master of it all. If you aren’t amped up to a SPF 50, you are getting it all wrong. Whether it’s to go about my day or sleep, sunscreen does so much in keeping my skin hydrated and radiant. (DYK: putting sunscreen before bed protects you during the light you are exposed to watching those tik toks)
5. Invest in your masks.
As a person who practices make up a lot to go out (and I am an extrovert), I have to do more in repairing my skin when its time to recover and a good retinol and brightening serum masks do the job.
6. Last but not least… a positive self-esteem.
Yes! I look like I am always glowing because I smile more and always full of good energy. The intangible things matter and nothing completes the look by putting in effort to look good, smell good and feel-good head to toe. BE CONFIDENT!
