Denim
The denim-on-denim and maxi denim skirts have become a hit since the beginning of the year and have become wardrobe staples. Cindy Arendse, the curator and fashion enthusiast behind the Instagram account @myessentiallist, praises the denim on denim and maxi denim skirt as two of the year’s top trends. She expresses her everlasting affection for its classic style and casual charm. She enjoys how readily available these trends are because they often don’t require brand-new purchases, making them fashionable and cost-effective options.
“The maxi denim skirt truly stole my heart this year. I have done so many different looks, and I am still surprised with how many more outfits I am able to create with it,” Cindy says.
Now, this is a trend that I will back! The denim maxi skirt has my heart in a chokehold. I see them, and I want to buy them in different colours. Denim, in general, when styled appropriately, works so well and will always be fashionable. There are always new ways to style them, which will continue to be a wardrobe must-have! However, styling denim on denim can be tricky, and you must ensure that all denim items are the same shade. Denim on denim is something I still can’t pull off. It’s the denim maxi skirt all the way for me!
Tailored Pieces
Tailored pieces have become a significant trend that perfectly encapsulates modern elegance and versatility. This comeback stems from a need for elegant, well-fitted clothing that can quickly go from day to night. Chantal Julius, owner of the Instagram fashion blog account @styleinsider.ct, draws attention to the return of waistcoats worn as tops, highlighting their timeless appeal due to their clean lines and flawless cuts. Overall, these trends have become wardrobe staples, showcasing their versatility and modern elegance, making them wardrobe staples.
I love the tailored look. I love the idea of looking elegant and fashionable. It’s giving corporate but with style and grace!
Crochet
Cindy Arendse draws attention to the popularity of crochet and sheer materials. She mentions her venture into this style while on vacation recently. Cindy emphasizes that when done skilfully, it conveys an effortlessly stylish vibe while acknowledging that some might be hesitant. “I know a lot of people might be on the fence with this one, but when styled properly, it really gives such an effortless look,” she says.
Crochet has caught my eye and is a style I’d like to try. I picture them as lightweight and breathable items to wear over my swimming costume. However, it’s not something I’d run to the shops and buy immediately. I’ll see if the fashionistas can convince me to buy it this summer.
Sambas
The Adidas Sambas have made a significant comeback, making their way up to being one of the most popular shoes this year. The Samba’s popularity is still surging, with no signs of it slowing down. “I’ve never seen any shoes or clothing that sells out this quickly in a long time,” says Chantal Julius.
The Adidas Sambas are on my ‘to-be-bought’ list! I’m such a follow-the-trends girl that I need these! However, I can never grab my hands on them as they sell out so fast, and they never seem to have stock of the smaller sizes, usually size five and up.
Ballet flats?
There have been mixed feelings towards this latest trend, the ballerina flats. While some might praise the comeback of these shoes, others cannot fully commit to the look and idea of the shoe. Earlier, fashion stylist Zeenat Khan mentioned that they will be a trend for summer. Cindy Arendse and Chantal Julius feel that this trend falls under the list of things that need to go. “I just haven’t seen anyone style the ballerina flats and thought – maybe I should give it a try,” says Arendse.
Ballet flats are not my style, and I’m still trying to decide whether or not I should add them to my wardrobe. However, we can’t deny that more and more individuals are adding ballet flats to their shoe collections. Since the end of September, the popularity of ballet flats has increased by 22%, according to Instagram data fashion page @databutmakeitfashion. If you can find a way to incorporate and style them with your outfits, then jump on this trend. Please convince those who are still feeling uncertain about getting them!
